Your original email spoke of urgency in this matter, and I have responded quickly to all your inquiries. I'm now thinking that you have rejected my offers of assistance and are working with someone else. I have prayed for guidance from God and he has told me that I should move on to other opportunities. Disappointingly and with malice towards none, John (Received 6/14/2002) Dear John, God bless you is my continually prayer to you, please do not be angry with me for not sendiing the fax message as promised or start thinking that I have chosing another person, it was due to poor communication within my area. Confirm receipt of the three deposit documents, deposit receipt, deposit agreement and deposit certificate. Every other necessary documentation will coming as we progresses. Be informed that this consignment (box) are still with the security, because of your interset to help us, I will move to the finance department of the security company to get all our acrude demurrage within the period of deposit of this box and get it settled for the withdrawal of the box to commence process of transfer of the money into your account. Due to your report of inability to travel long because of your illness, it is necessary for your present to help us for the withdrawal of the consignment in the security company. Your present could have added more glamour at the security company and in the bank for the deposit of the money for subsequent transfer into your nominated account overseas. But I have started making some plans in handling things incase you are not available, I went to bank to make some inquiry concerning the deposit of the money, but I did not tell them the true position of the money for security reasons. The senior bank official told me, to deposit such amount of money we need to open an account in advance with some reasonable amount to keep the account matured before lodging the huge amount. This may be too difficult to discuss out of your present but whatever may be the case, I am seeking your opinion as the banker directed me to send me some money at least $7,000(seven thousand dollars) to complete with the money with me to open an account over here in your name for subsequent instruction by you to the bank to continue transfer of the money into your nominated account and then you will send your account where the money will be transferred. I have alot of expenses to settle with the security company before withdrawal of the consignment and I do not want to get short of fund that is why I am requesting you tosend this money. I want you to know all this to set standard of the operation without mistake. Upon withdrawal of the consignment with security van,we will carry the money direct to the bank to lodge into the account opened in your name and you will give instruction to continue the transfer into your nominated acccount. Your name will be used to open the account, so that you will have authority over the account even when you are not here. Upon the transfer and you confirm payment into your account, I will travel to meet you with my children to continue the investment that follows into profitable ventures were task will not take much tools, while children continue their education. Read my explanations in dtails, you are free to ask question were necessary. Thanks for your best understanding and God bless you. kindest regards, Mrs. Smith Official looking documents received via fax on 6/14/2002 (Received 6/15/2002) Dear John, I am looking forward having response from you, please confirm receipt of the three pages fax or I resend. Awaiting your most urgent response and God bless you. Regards, Mrs. Smith (Reply sent 6/17/2002) Dear Mrs. Smith, I received the documents via fax and I'm not sure what to do with them. I showed the documents to my friend, Arthur Anderson, and he told me that they looked fine but he wasn't sure of the procedure. His recommendation was to shred everything once I have completed the transaction. One problem is that the documents are written in some foreign language...possibly French? I took Klingon in high school as it seemed to be the language of the future, but so far I only hear it spoken at conventions and in comic book shops. Anyway, about all I can understand in the documents is your name and dollar amounts of $95 and $25,075. As far as opening the account, $7000 sounds fine. Please let me know after you have opened the account in my name and made the initial deposit. You mentioned travel with your children? How many do you have and what are their ages? I have several children myself, although I'm not allowed to see them because of the restraining orders. John (Received 6/17/2002) Dear John, (Reply sent 6/17/2002) Dear Mrs. Smith, There has been a change in my medical condition...my doctor has told me that I can now safely travel as my recent electroshock sessions combined with an unintentional overdose of Viagra has cleared up my inner ear condition. This will simplify matters greatly as I can now travel to complete the transaction. I contacted my travel agent, but he needs to know which airport is the most convenient to your location. Please respond as soon as possible as I am most anxious to leave the country before my scheduled appearance on "America's Most Wanted". John (Received 6/18/2002) Dear John, (Reply sent 6/18/2002) Dear Mrs. Smith, Wow, it sure is expensive to fly to Abidjan! I can book a ticket on Delta to arrive June 27 on flight 8574 (6:05PM local time). Is that a good flight to take? Do you have a photo so I will be able to recognize you when I arrive? I've attached a photo of my family...my wife Marge, my son Bart and my daughter Lisa. John Note: The photo is from an old collection of photo samples from Kodak (Reply received 6/19/2002) Dearest John, God bless you for your most woderful interest to help me and my children. I am very happy to see the beatiful face of your family, I am very happy to associate with you. The airline and time chosen is good, I will now move to the security company to get our final bills and get it settled before your arrival. Here attached my piture and my son, my daughter have not recent picture, I have requested her to take one to send you. I will be informing you as we progresses over here with the security company and other necesary plans. So that upon your arrival there will be no wasting time than to withdrawal the consignment and proceed to banking and transfering into your nominated account. Kindest regards, Mrs. Smith (Sent 6/19/2002) Dear Mrs. Smith, I made reservations for travel and should arrive on July 3 on flight 8574. My travel agent recommended that I get in touch with the local US Consulate upon my arrival. He thought that they may be able to assist me in my financial arrangements. Do you know the location of the nearest US Consulate in Abidjan? Perhaps you have a phone number for them? I'd like to contact them in advance of my trip. Thank you most sincerely, John (Received 6/20/2002) Note: My itinerary change has required Mrs. Smith to make some changes which are going to cost "us" some money. I guess this is the start of the fees and other costs that will start to accumulate. Dear John, Thanks for your final reservation, although I have made some arrangement with the first date you submitted concerning the withdrawal of the consignment, it needs some amendment which will cost us some money according to the security company law. I do not know the location of American Embassy, you can ask from the information department in U.S.A or if it becomes too necessary I can search for the location here to fasten everything, do inform me what to do. I am still battling with the finance department of the security company to update all our bills, so that it will never cause any delay as soon as you arrived. Please confirm receipt of our picture and be informed the need for utmost confidentiality required in this transaction for security reasons while depositing and transferring the money into your account. Awaiting your most urgent response and God bless you. Kindest reagrds, Mrs. smith Note: I've decided to try and stop further exchanges with "Mrs. Smith" as I'd prefer not to use my real email address. (Sent 6/20/2002) Dear Mrs. Smith, I am writing to ask you to please comment on some discussions I had with Mr. Dick Hertz this morning. You're probably asking "Who's Dick Hertz?" Mr. Hertz is the American Consul General for Abidjan and he expressed some concerns about your proposal. He has heard from several other people who have been approached by you, which leads me to conclude that this is all some sort of scam. Because of this, I have cancelled my plane reservations. Please do not contact me further. Let me also add that I am disappointed that a God fearing person would engage in this sort of activity. John Note: Wow! She wrote back (Received 6/20/2002) Dear John, I am sorry that I can not mislead you, whatever they have told you may take you to any dicission but God is alife. If not you, God will provide but be informed that in every good business there is bad ones. It is from the sketch of good business that evil ones form their own. This is never force, it is only when God lay to your heart you can be able to help. If not this time we may have other things to do in future, if I am in the position to tell you lies, then I will do it with my picture and my son. Bye as you have said, but if it touch you to help us,do it in good manner than insulting me. Mrs. Smith
